Founded in 1992 by Robert Wilson, The Watermill Center is an interdisciplinary laboratory for the arts and humanities situated on ten acres of Shinnecock ancestral territory on Long Island’s East End, offering year-round artist residencies and education programs. With an emphasis on creativity and collaboration, Watermill integrates contemporary artistic practice with resources from the humanities and research from the sciences to provide a global community with the time, space and freedom to create and inspire.

the BODY: The Watermill Center Annual Summer Benefit - A celebration of art that will center on the body's role in art making.

The 2023 Summer Benefit will introduce UBU directed by Robert Wilson — originally presented at the Es Baluard Museum in Palma de Mallorca, Spain — and 19 artist installations and exhibitions including Regina José Galindo's "The Body," Alessandro di Pietro's "Ghostwriting Paul Thek: Time Capsules and Reliquaries," with a performance by Ola Maciejewska. This year the Watermill Center will be honoring American artist Simone Forti and the late philanthropist, Baroness Nina von Maltzahn. The evening welcomes 500+ distinguished guests from the worlds of art, performance, theater, fashion, film, and more and is an international celebration of art in support of the organization's year-round programming.
