Peter Pan
Adaptation by Erich Kästner, based on the novel by James M. Barrie
Premiered on April 17, 2013 at the Berliner Ensemble, Berlin, Germany
Robert Wilson staged Peter Pan as a musical tale for adults, where humor is mixed with fear. He adapts Erich Kästner’s version of James Barrie’s story, where Peter Pan appears more like a David Bowie type than like a chubby little boy. Featuring original songs and music by the Brooklyn-and-Paris-based "freak folk" band CocoRosie, this production has been playing successfully in the Berliner Ensemble's repertoire, as well as on several international tours.
After this first collaboration, Robert Wilson and CocoRosie worked on several other productions together, notably Pushkin's Fairy Tales (Moscow, 2015), Edda (Oslo, 2017) and Jungle Book (Luxembourg, 2019).
